Lakai Limited Footwear was started in 1999 by pro skateboarders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll. They wanted to make a shoe company that they were proud to be a part of. They also have a dedicated team with skateboarders like Mike Carroll, Rick Howard, Guy Mariano, Mike Mo, Brandon Biebel, Marc Johnson, and Cairo Foster. The name Lakai is short for Malakai, a favorite character of Mikes from the movie, Children of the Corn.
